Ummm... kind of FREAKING OUT over here... [08 Dec 2007|12:08pm]
[ mood | excited ]
[ music | Mother Mary - Foxboro Hot Tubs ]

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

So I've been pretty behind on the Green Day news lately, but I didn't see this mentioned on my flist anywhere. I appologize if I'm like, the last person to know about this, but have any of you heard of Foxboro Hot Tubs? It's a Green Day side project a la The Network. I saw it posted on Oh No They Didn't of all places.

So far there are 3 songs posted on their MySpace. "Stop Drop and Roll", "Mother Mary", and "Ruby Room". They've all got a Sixties vibe to them. Mother Mary sounds like Lust for Life. Actually all of them sound like songs you've heard before. But they're still pretty damn good. When you click the link to download the 6 song album, it takes you to their website but there's only a giant ticking clock there at the moment.

I'm so excitedddd. This seems like it's going to be made of so much WIN.

Thoughts?

SANTA ROCKS PHILLY!!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Oh my Goddddddd it was amazinggggg. My first Tori show and every thing was PERFECT. Killer setlist, her voice keeps sounding better and she looked like she was just having so much fun playing.

Lemme ~break it down~ for you. I'll cut it for the tl;dr crowd. Which is like... all of you. lol

I have waited all my life... )

Cornflake Girl
My mom managed to record a little bit of CG. Pretty much your standard version. Before the song, she talked to us and told us that that night would be the first show available for download on her Boots & Legs site. She said she didn't want it to be New York because they get everything and she compared them to The Brady Bunch and said they were like Marcia. She said we were like Jan Brady and that we were pretty hot, so that's why we were the first concert to be recorded for an official boot. (Of course I downloaded it as soon as I got home and I'm listening to my show right now. :D :D) Oh and she also asked Jon if he tried his Mojito and he said it was strong. She wanted everyone to know that "that's real shit." And then she pointed to her chest and said "EVERYTHING is real up here." heh

pure as a woman's gold... )

So now I'm listening to the official boot of my show, and the way it's mixed was a little disappointing. The recorded version sounds almost... neutered? In a way. It was so much better and had so much more UMPH being there in person. Like, if you were listening to it without having been there, you would probably think it was kind of a boring show. But it wasn't! I think they have her vocals too high in the mix so it kind of highlights every flaw, whereas being there live, the band kind of covers it up. And they don't have enough audience mixed in to make it sound a little more "live".

But who am I kidding? I'll still be buying other shows from that site as they become available. Crystal clear soundboard quality >>>>>>> audience taped boots.

P.S. I just have to mention that Dan Phelps, her new guitarist, is a cutie and I would totally do him. :D

Storytellers: American Idiot Uncut in HD....ish
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Click for bigger version

We recently had more HD channels added to our lineup and one of them was a music channel. So when I found out they were playing Green Day's episode of Storytellers, I had to capture it. Although it's not a true HD capture, (I'm working on that for the future. ;), it is 16:9 widescreen and I think it still looks pretty good.

I kept the videos in MPEG format and split them up song by song because it just seems to be the best way to do it. I tried leaving it as one big file, but the audio kept going out of sync towards the end and I'm not patient enough to learn how to fix it. :D Then I tried converting them to DivX and although it kept the same picture quality, it squished the widescreen resolution to 4:3. So that was no good.

They're pretty big files, and I know it'll be a pain in the ass to download them all. I had to split them up into .rar files to get around the 100MB upload limit of most file hosting sites, so you probably want to have WinRAR if you don't already to unzip them once you've downloaded the different parts. Once you have all parts of a video, unzip them all together, and hopefully you should end up with one video.

Oh and you'll probably want to play them with PowerDVD or some other DVD player program. If you play them in Windows Media, you won't see them in the widescreen format.

So anyway, onto the downloads. I'm just gonna keep updating this entry as I get them all uploaded, so keep checking back for the links.

"New Orleans, 1994: I was shooting Green Day for Spin, and the band was just about to go on. Somebody was there, a boxer, and this boxer had given them a gift of boxing shorts and autographed gloves. I think they were actually doing something crazy onstage, where they were boxing or something hilarious. That moment was more of a documentary moment. They were just going onstage -- [Billie Joe] threw a couple of punches my way, looking in the camera real quick. He turned away, and that was the moment they were gone onstage."

I've never seen this picture before. I came across it on Oh No They Didn't of all places. It's by a guy named Danny Clinch who is a music photographer. Apparently he took the photo of them peeking out of the trunk of a taxi too.

Push the little daisies and watch 'em come up... [04 Oct 2007|07:01pm]

THIS SHOW IS MADE OF WIN.

I watched it last night and I'm in love with it. It's like a really bright Tim Burton movie.

Basically this guy, Ned (Lee Pace), is a pie maker and has the gift of being able to bring things back to life with his touch. But if he touches them again, they stay dead forever. If he lets them stay alive for more than a minute, someone else dies in their place. Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) finds out about his gift and uses him to solve murders (and get the reward money). Ned finds out his childhood crush Charlotte "Chuck" Charles died mysteriously on a cruise and he goes to her funeral to bring her back so he can find out who killed her. But once he brings her back, he can't bring himself to "kill" her again. So she stays alive, but he can never touch her ever again.

I know the description sounds kinda depressing like it would be a drama, but it's actually really funny and quirky.

You can watch the "Pie-lette" on ABC's website if you wanna check it out. And I think you do.

Most people probably know him from Wonderfalls, but does anyone else remember Lee Pace from that Showtime movie Soldier's Girl that was on a few years ago? He made such a pretty girl. *sigh*

Ten years.

Ten years I've waited to see this woman live. But it was totally worth the wait. Bitch is kicking ass and taking names on this tour. Her voice is better than it's been in years and it's a band tour, so I get to see Matty and John and the new guitar guy Dan. (He's pretty cute too.) I always wanted my first show to be a show with the band, and now I get my wish. :D I'm glad she's really going all out this time, especially since I've heard rumors that this will be her last big world tour, although I doubt she'll ever stop touring completely. She's too much of a road dog.

I also heard that she might be putting up soundboard boots for download after every show. And something about how if you went to a show, they'll give you some kind of code so you can get a copy of your show for free. That would be pretty sweet, so I hope it happens.

Ugh. So freakin' excited.

I really hate people sometimes. [18 Jul 2007|10:00pm]
[ mood | angry ]

How can people be so cruel and uncaring about animals? It just makes me so mad I can't even see straight.

My mom and I were on our way to take our walk by the creek and then up the mountain tonight, like we've been doing for the past few weeks. Tonight as we turned onto the road that takes you back to the Lykens Glen we noticed a Collie walking along the road. I started to slow down because obviously I didn't want to hit the poor thing. But as we got closer to it, it looked like it was having a hard time walking. At first I thought she might have already been hit or hurt or attacked by something. So of course I knew I had to stop and help the poor thing. My mom wanted me to be cautious and not get out right away because she didn't know if it would attack or anything. But of course I go into Super Protective Animal Rescuer Mode right away and I got out. If nothing else just to try and get her off the road so she wouldn't be hit.

Well, I don't think this poor creature could have attacked anyone if she tried. The first thing I noticed was that the nails were super long and some of them curling over like they hadn't been cut in forever. And then as I began to pet her, you could feel the ribcage and the bones in her back sticking out. Obviously the dog was extremely neglected. We had cat food along to feed the trout in the reservoir, (don't ask. lol) and we were trying to get her to eat and I was trying to give her some water from my waterbottle, but she wouldn't take anything. So the whole time I'm saying that we have to do something or call someone, but my mom didn't know who to call since we don't have a local SPCA. So at that point I said I would stay there with the dog and she could go home or get someone to help.

But in the meantime when I was trying to feed the dog and get her to lay down and rest, there was a couple on their bikes and and older couple who also saw the dog and my mom was talking to them. I guess they knew this Bonnie lady who takes care of cats and would be able to help the dog and they called her. The older couple also brought the dog a bowl of water but she still wouldn't drink.

At this point I finally got the dog to sit down and stop wandering aimlessly and I sat down with her on the ground. So all of the sudden, this white car pulls up and it's got this sheild emblem on the side that said New York something-or-other on it. So I'm thinking, oh awesome, it's an animal rescuer or something like that. But the THING that got out of the car was anything but.

Let me paint the picture for you... This man was fucking GROSS. He was very obese and his shirt was stained and had holes in it. His sweatpants were split up the back, so much so that when he bent over you could see EVERYTHING and he most definitely was NOT wearing underwear. This man couldn't even take care of himself, let alone this poor dog that he claimed was his.

At this point the older couple and my mom had all gathered around me and the dog on the ground. The man comes up to me and my mom asks him if it's his dog. He said it was and that he didn't know how she got down there. He kept calling the her to come to him, but the dog didn't want to go to him. Can't imagine why. He claimed that the dog was old and had just been really sick lately. But to me, that dog didn't look old, and the only reason he looked sicked was from beeing so badly neglected for so long. Even if the dog was old and sick, there was no reason for it's nails to be so long she could barely walk, no?

The guy also looked kinda nervous the whole time. I just knew he was saying that because he didn't wanna get busted. I'm kicking myself for not saying anything. I mean, the poor thing didn't want to leave my side. She kept looking at me like, "Don't make me go with him. Don't let him take me." and I didn't say anything. I mean, I knew that either way I was still gonna call somebody and report him after he left, but I didn't confront him right then and there and call him on his bullshit. We all watched him pick her up and put her into the car because she was too weak to get in by herself. (And he had both front doors open and she tried to jump out the opposite side.)

That Bonnie person did show up after he left and she said that she was going to report him, thank GOD. But I just wish I would have opened my mouth and spoke up for this poor dog who couldn't speak for itself. Nobody else did either, but that doesn't make it okay. I can take some comfort in knowing that I got her off the road so she wouldn't get hit, but I can't believe I just handed her right back over to the vile piece of shit that did this to her in the first place, no questions asked. I FAIL AT LIFE.

Sorry so long and ramble-y. I just needed to get it all out.

JOHNNY WUZ A PUNK RAWKER!!1

Oh, 21 Jump Street. How you make me alternately cringe with your cheesy 80s-ness, bore me with your non Johnny Depp/Peter DeLouise centric episodes, and hurt my brain with your incredibly predictable plots. But after this episode, I guess I have to give season 2 a chance. Damn you.

Soo... if Green Day happen to be on this American Idol thing, I'm going to attempt to capture it. I want to try to do it in widescreen because we have a HDTV and HD channels now. Unfortunately it won't be captured in HD, just widescreen. The capturing it in WS part is ok, it's just this Pinnacle Studio software that I have won't let me *output* the thing in WS. I may just have to use a different program to convert it. I dunno. I'm workin' on it.

Of course, if this all turns out to be a rumor, just ignore this post. lol

Edit: I *think* I've solved the problem. Now, this thing better pan out so I can test it. ;)

Edit 2: GOT IT! Green Day in HD is *magical*. hahaha
